The following article is written by Blanche Boyce, Master of Medical Qi Gong. Today she is talking about the benefits of practicing Qi Gong.
I’ll never forget the first time I heard the words ‘qi gong’, I was working on a young woman who had been paralyzed from the waist down in an automobile accident. She whispered, “I do my qi gong everyday.” I had no idea what she meant, I had never heard those words before but I knew in that moment that I had to do this thing called qi gong! It took a couple of years before I was even able to find a course, but in so doing I embarked on a journey that changed the direction of my life!
Qi Gong (pronounced chee gong) is similar to Tai Chi only easier to learn. It uses physical movement and postures in conjunction with breath work, imagery and intention to increase and balance the live force energy (qi) in and around the body. Its benefits are many; generally, it improves health and well-being, and increases longevity. More specifically, it detoxifies the body, strengthens the immune function, improves the senses, increases vitality, calms the mind and spirit, balances the yin and yang of the body, strengthens the organs and organ systems, and reconnects us to our heart and spirit. All this in only a few minutes a day or every other day!
