Long Live Imagination

Reflect on the choices you have been making over the past months. In self-growth there are three experiences: Expansion, Contraction, and Stagnation.

I often ask myself “Bev, how are you doing?”

I aspire to listen without judgement and with the intention of moving forward.

Here is a lovely meditation or mindfulness exercise. I love it because to grow we want to FEEL the experience of growth in our bodies. That is where change happens.

I walked slowly through the trees in the mountains. I invited all my senses to experience this walk. I saw the trees, I felt the wind on my face, I felt the softness of the moss and I smelled the freshness of the air. It felt so clean. I heard the birds overhead.

As each part of nature this very significant question:

WHAT CAN YOU TEACH ME?

Here is what I saw and felt. Language came to me when I asked that very important question.

  • Trees—Strength
  • Running Water—Movement
  • Moss—Gentleness
  • A Burned Out Log—Balance
  • A Far Away Biker—More Than What is in Front of Me
  • Logs Laying on Logs—Asking for Support
  • Tree Roots—Send My Energy Down Into the Earth and Ground
  • Still Water—Stagnancy is No Fun and Unhealthy
  • Sky—Hope
  • A Fork in the Trail—Choice
  • And there were more. Each piece of language has special meaning to me, and now that it is attached to a visual it goes deeper into my being

As I write to you this is the one that is dancing with me right now.

A Fork in the Trail – Which way do I go? To the right takes me to the unknown and all of the possibilities and uncertainties. To the left loops me back and I can do the trail again…..kind of like repetitive patterns. Interestingly I had a physical reaction…my body immediately said “Oh no you don’t…I don’t want to keep doing the same trail over and over again – an interesting metaphor.

Imagery and the physical sensations they create, take us deeper into our own conviction to support self-growth

Play with feeling the visceral effects of imagery, and listen to the language that has meaning to you. This will give you clues as to how to go deeper into change

Releasing Internal Pressures

Recently, I had a clogged drain in the bathroom sink. I took action and poured Draino down it. I waited 15 minutes and then poured water. The drain opened. Now everything could flow. When we have a lot of clutter and stuff inside of us it is important we “empty our drains” otherwise we stay stuck. Continuous writing is a practice which allows us to empty what’s inside. Each day write continuously until you feel finished. Sensor nothing and judge nothing. Write without thinking. Let it pour out of you. Write until there is nothing more to say. Write until your breathing starts to change. You will notice that information shows up for you that is in some way helpful.
