I consider myself a normal person, experiencing moments of insanity: kids, jobs, mortgages, spouses, friends, debts, fears… my goodness, where do I start? All these wonderful tools you have given us, where do I start? What is step #1?

Dear Frenzied, Curious, Normal Adult Person with Moments of Insanity,
The first step is always one of Awareness. Go into awareness. You can’t clear, manage, heal or overcome that which you have not stopped to sit with in awareness.
As you do that you will notice step #2 – that is Breathe while sitting in awareness. That will bring you into your body and into the present moment. Sometimes we live our lives hiding from what is real. Invite yourself to sit in awareness and breathe – moving into a place of observation The first step is always one of Awareness. Go into awareness. You can’t clear, manage, heal or overcome that which you have not stopped to sit with in awareness.
Step #3 is Observation. It’s a good place to be. From observation, you can watch your mind’s opinions about life. The more you watch and breathe, the more you put space between you and the voices in your head.
Step #4 is Clear. Once we are focused on our breathing, we can turn our focus to choosing a clearing technique – a clearing technique that brings up perspective, and from perspective, wisdom. Here are some clearing techniques: exercise, meditation, EFT, Byron Katie, Sedona, journaling.
Step #5 is Gratitude. Gratitude for yourself, for those around you, and even for the tension that created this opening now. Pat yourself on your back for taking these steps of self-inquiry.
Remember, we are all capable of mastery. It takes practice.
